PALM SPRINGS, Calif. /CitizenWire/ — Most people don't associate plumbing with food, but they may not know about KC's 23 1/2 Hour Plumbing Inc. This week, the company announced that it has collected more than one ton of food and will continue to collect food from its clients for people in need, year round.
This first ton is ready to be distributed and KC's hopes to continue to make one-ton donations throughout the year.
"It's not just about donating food during the holidays," says Kelly Russum, president, KC's 23 1/2 Hour Plumbing Inc. "Feeding the community takes a year-round commitment."
KC's has always been involved in giving back to the community at some level. It has worked on breast awareness and AIDS campaigns and much more, but feeding the community is something that is made possible by its clients.
And, KC's makes it easy for its clients and even non-clients to donate food through the following methods: KC's will pick it up; clients may give food to the plumbing technicians who visit their home; or people may drop off food at their office location at 702 Eugene Road in Palm Springs, CA.
Russum adds that, "Our goal is to make feeding the community as easy as possible. For instance, if a person sees one of our service trucks, they can simply stop by and give the driver some food. It's that easy."
The staff at KC's takes care of boxing and delivering to local churches and charities that distribute the food as needed.
"While plumbing is our business, we want to be known as the 'food drive people,'" says Russum. "It's important for people to take charge and providing food for people who need it makes our clients feel good too. Everyone wins."
