According to program coordinator Jana Buck, the Master of Science in Analytics program seeks to provide students with a comprehensive knowledge base that includes both analytics and management.
"Today's managers need to know enough about analytics to enable them to communicate effectively with analysts," said Buck. "In addition, analysts who want to be in management need skills beyond the nuts-and-bolts knowledge that got them to this point. Success in management depends on things like knowledge and skills in managing people, understanding roles within an organization, and big-picture thinking. The goal of the Analytics Program is to arm our graduates with a skillset that covers these two critical facets."
Zielazny, a noted lecturer who has held managerial and executive level roles in mortgage valuation analytics for over a decade, hopes his knowledge and passion for valuation analytics will help to cultivate interest in the residential real estate valuation segment among the program's students and new graduates.
"The valuation segment needs new recruits and it also needs deeper analytics," he said. "The truth is, we're sitting on a practically endless supply of both. The more we embrace advanced analytics in the residential valuation space, the safer mortgage and collateral-based transactions will become, and the easier it will be to attract the next generation of high quality analysts and managers."
Zielazny oversees the valuation analytics division of Platinum Data, which is recognized by the top 15 AVM providers for generating the industry's highest quality valuation data, and pioneering the most rigorous AVM testing and validation program in the industry.
Platinum Data's online platform and analytical tools are used to protect the country's top 10 mortgage lenders, and are integrated with nine of the top 10 appraisal management systems.
