NCLB Foundation tees up for annual event, benefitting St. Anthony School and Community Center

No Child Left Behind FoundationDALLAS, Texas (CitizenWire) — The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Foundation today announced plans for the ninth-annual NCLB Golf Classic, benefiting St. Anthony School and Community Center. Dallas-area golfers are encouraged to join the tournament to help make a difference for this South Dallas charter school, which provides top-notch education for underprivileged students. The tournament will take place on May 3, 2011, with a 1:00 p.m. Central shot-gun start at The Tribute and Old American golf courses in The Colony. Visit www.nochildleftbehindfoundation.org for complete information, including registration and sponsorship opportunities.

Amidst proposed budget cuts targeting Dallas public schools, including St. Anthony, the NCLB tournament provides financial stability to grow the vital mission of educating and nurturing inner-city youth. For more than eight years, proceeds from the NCLB Golf Classic have driven new opportunities for St. Anthony, enabling the school’s mission to develop knowledgeable, caring young leaders who excel through intercultural understanding and respect. NCLB tournament funds continue to supply the school with critical updates, including enhanced technology, updated learning materials, after-school enrichment programs, scholarship programs and more.

Specifically, the 2010 NCLB Golf Classic spurred various advancements, such as:
* Updated emergency systems to maintain safety standards
* Created a state of the art Media Center with sophisticated digital resources and library
* Funding for experiences beyond the classroom, including prom and graduation ceremonies, and a trip for Eighth Grade graduates.

Beyond current updates, the NCLB Foundation is committed to securing a brilliant future for the St. Anthony School and Community Center. Thanks to the golf classic, the Foundation purchased a 9,000 square foot home adjacent to the school, to serve as expansion space in coming years. The 2011 Golf Classic will help bring these and other investments to life for St. Anthony’s student body.

“10 years ago, dropping my children off at a private school in North Dallas, I came to the heartfelt realization that not every Dallas family can afford the same education. Just a few miles away, in fact, many inner-city children have entirely different day-to-day school experiences,” said Mark Wischmeyer, CEO, Wischmeyer Benefit Partners. “After speaking to a group of friends that felt the same need, we decided to start a charity that could help normalize that difference. The NCLB golf tournament was introduced as a way for Dallas entrepreneurial leaders to help build a better future for our own city’s children, with education as the highest priority. Now entering our tenth year, we aim to raise $200,000 in 2011, to continue this mission for the children of St. Anthony School and Community Center.”

“St. Anthony is one of the places where miracles happen daily. The NCLB Golf Tournament provides the means by which St Anthony can continue to produce those miracles,” said David Ray, Principal of St. Anthony School. “The teachers, staff and students dedicated to keeping up an exemplary school appreciate the NCLB Tournament, tournament volunteers, and most of all Mark Wischmeyer, for continued efforts to drive new opportunities and advancements for the school and community.”

The 2011 NCLB tournament features a scramble format, with fees priced $600 per individual or $2,400 for a foursome. Tournament sponsorship opportunities are available through April 19. Levels range from bronze to title, and include prominent name placement on tournament media, among other benefits. Visit the NCLB site (http://www.nochildleftbehindfoundation.org/) to participate in the event, and truly make a difference in the lives of Dallas-area children.
