MIAMI, Fla., March 22, 2016 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- The International Downtown Association (IDA) has selected Kim Briesemeister, co-founder of RMA, Redevelopment Management Associates (www.rma.us.com), to serve on the Top Issues Council for Public-Private Partnerships. IDA is the premier association of urban place managers who are shaping and activating dynamic downtown districts, connecting all the stakeholders in a downtown area, and bridging the gap between the public and private sectors.

"I am honored to have been chosen to join this Council," said Briesemeister. "For many cities the concept of public-private partnerships seems out of reach. Our goal is to change that trajectory and make it a relevant everyday practice for cities. Our exploration of the best practices in this critical industry will have a huge impact on jobs and the quality of life in towns across the globe."

Briesemeister, who has offices in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties, has negotiated 11 public-private real estate transactions resulting in hundreds of millions of investment dollars in city centers.

Part of the strategic plan for IDA is to create a resource center for ideas and innovative best practices in urban place management. Last year, the International Downtown Association embarked on an in-depth process to fully and accurately understand the most pressing issues facing downtown urban centers over the next five years and to develop an issues framework that will guide IDA programming and research. The Top Issues Councils are at the forefront of exploring and compiling these practices to create a constantly updated, real-world body of knowledge and expertise that IDA members can rely on to support their daily work.

Six councils will be exploring the following pressing issues facing urban centers:
Downtown Residential Issues and Housing Attainment; Ability to Attract Commercial Investment; Activating Public Space; Pedestrian Improvements; Maintaining Authentic Feel and Character; and Implementing Successful Public-Private Partnerships.

Each council will produce a final research document that will be released at IDA's 62nd Annual Conference and Tradeshow in Atlanta on September 7-9, 2016.
