TIPP CITY, Ohio, March 26, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Isaac Seevers, Superintendent of Greeneview Local Schools, is pleased to announce that the District has implemented an energy conservation project, which is being executed by Energy Optimizers, USA, to improve four existing school buildings, reduce overall energy usage, and save taxpayer dollars.

"As a district, we rank in the lowest 20 percent in Ohio for expenditures per pupil. We are good stewards of taxpayer dollars, achieving excellent educational results while spending within our means. This project offers us an opportunity to gain energy savings to lower our monthly expenses, perform much needed facility improvements, and improve the learning environment for our students," says Seevers.

The District is utilizing a funding mechanism through the Ohio School Facilities Commission's House Bill 264 program so that the District does not have to ask for any taxpayer dollars. Though the total cost of this project is $495,180, the Greeneview Local School District will save $42,598 in annual energy and operations costs.

Energy Optimizers, USA identified areas where enhancements should be made to the High School, the Middle School, Elementary School, and Board offices. Interior and exterior lighting renovations will significantly reduce electrical consumption across the district. As Greeneview Middle School is a new facility, only high bay metal halide fixtures in the gym and HID exterior lighting were replaced with more energy-efficient lighting.

The control systems in all buildings will be integrated into one web-based system to allow the district to monitor and analyze the facilities' energy usage. Programming measures, including tying the hot water circulation pump scheduling into the controls system, will reduce energy usage and improve comfort levels in the buildings.

"It is always encouraging when the school district we are working with is as excited as we are to implement an energy conservation project," notes Bob Hausmann, Operations Manager for Energy Optimizers, USA. "Greeneview Local Schools' administration and School Board members are not only making positive changes to conserve both energy and taxpayer resources, they are passionate about creating better, more efficient facilities for their students and teachers. We look forward to helping them meet their fiscal goals and assisting them in championing a great idea - the idea that a 'greener,' more sustainable means of energy use is not only responsible and practical, it is preferable."
