Carden Academy of Mission Viejo Raises $40,000 to Support School Programming

(CitizenWire) — Carden Academy of Mission Viejo announced today that more than $40,000 was raised at its Third Annual Dinner Dance, “A Night of Chance,” held at the Coto de Caza Country Club on Saturday, April 17, 2010. The event was organized by the academy’s Parents Association to raise funds that will enhance the school programs at Carden Academy.

The highlight of the evening was during the Fund-A-Need portion of the event to support the Carden Academy Sports Program. More than $15,000 was raised thanks to a matching contribution from Dave Paddock of Preferred Window Coverings. Carden Academy’s Coach Ted Mansour and event Co-chair Kayvon Shakerin contributed by doing push-ups to match a request by one of the guests for $20 per push-up.

Co-chair of the event, Kathryn Wallace, stated, “We are so thankful for the generosity of our parents and corporate donors for their commitment to work within the vision and mission that our school has set forth to develop all of our childrens’ futures.”

Carden Academy provides an educational environment for children kindergarten through eighth grade that begins with a solid foundation in academic subjects and enhanced through nature, music, art, and physical education programs.

The academy’s educational approach aims to develop children’s moral character and intellectual strength through a warm and nurturing classroom environment that demonstrates strong values. Founded in 1994, Carden Academy now has a student body of more than 225 students.
